On April 17, a group of volunteers, including the two Downtowners’ staff members, will be pruning small trees and doing light clean up in the downtown area. We are asking for volunteers to help. Volunteers will meet at the Downtowners office at 10:00 am on Saturday April 17 and will go with a group leader to spruce up a specified area until around 12:00. Please contact the Downtowners office to RSVP. There are 40-50 small trees that need to be pruned, beds that need cleaning, and small trees that need to be un-tethered. These trees probably wouldn’t get pruned this year unless volunteers donate their time to assist us in making our city center even more beautiful. Group leaders are asking volunteers to dress appropriately, wear gloves, and bring pruners, loppers, rakes, brooms, and other small appropriate garden tools. In case of bad weather, the back up day is April 24. Volunteers will get brief tutorial on the proper way to prune the downtown trees. We hope you’ll join us!
