The proposed ramp would hold between 410-490 parking spaces. The Commission vote was 4-0, with commissioner Schwab abstaining due to a conflict. “Park Smart” program details More ways to park downtown… Many businesses have asked for updated details on the Park Smart Program for Downtown. Park Smart is a kind of parking validation system for business patrons: 1. Patrons will park in one of three downtown ramps and take a ticket. (see ramp locations below) 2. The participating businesses will supply the patron with a park smart coupon that the businesses request and receive from the parking authority. 3. Upon leaving the ramp, patrons place the entry ticket and the park smart coupon in an envelope provided by the parking authority. Leaving the ramp free of charge for the patron. 4. At the end of every month, the parking authority will return the park smart coupons along with an invoice to participating businesses. Three parking locations for your patrons using the Park Smart program: A. 3rd St & Main Ave Ramp (enter on 3rd St.) B. The Parkade Ramp- 6th St. & Broadway Ave (enter on 6th St.) C. The Downtowners' 2010 Rip-Roaring Ribfest…It’s a mouthful! Dates announced and sponsorships available… The third annual Ribfest is well on its way! Ribfest has been created by the Downtown Business Association to boost excitement and interest in Downtown Bismarck. Ribfest will be held June 17th, 18th, & 19th in Parking Lot D of the Bismarck Civic Center. Four national “ribbers” will construct their multiple stories-high vendor booths in order to cook and serve some of the tastiest bar-b-que you’ve experienced! This is an all around family-friendly event. Besides the great food, musical acts from around our area and region will perform all three days. Fun on the Run Games will have inflatable games and entertainment. These games are geared toward anyone older than 2 – in case some of you “grownup kids” are interested. Plus: "NAME THE PIG" CONTEST! Kids! We need your help naming the Ribfest Mascot! Tell us your name ideas for our little piggy... New this year is the V.I.P tent. Get treated like a Ribfest Rock Star. RIP-ROARIN' ROAD RACES 2010 are also back, June 19th at Pioneer Park with a 5K & 10K run, 5K walk, and Kid’s Mile. The Downtowners are now accepting sponsorships for Ribfest 2010. Contact the Downtowners office for sponsorship information, in-kind donations, or to volunteer and show support for your community. Sponsorships can range from $300 to Title Sponsorships. We are looking for volunteers to work at the gates, take tickets for the inflatable games, and help keep the venue clean and stocked for visitors. Downtowners' Street Fair 2010 Dates announced, DBA accepting vendor applications… The Downtown Business Association is excited to announce the 2010 dates for the annual Street Fair! It will be held September 17th & 18th 2010 in downtown Bismarck. We are now accepting vendor applications. Please contact the Downtowners’ office if you haven’t received your application by February 6th and would like to participate. Downtown updates J & J Smith Properties news and more… • J&J Smith Properties, LLC applied for designation of the purchase and rehabilitation of the Malloy Building, on 4th Street between Main & Broadway, as a Renaissance Zone Project. (Pictured right) J & J Smith Properties, LLC also requested assistance from the Technical Assistance Bank (TAB), a CORE Incentive Program that provides granting opportunities designed to offer professional technical assistance for the design and drafting of renovation and new construction projects. The Renaissance Zone authority approved both requests, as did the Bismarck City Commission voting 4-1 in favor with Commissioner Schwab being the opposing vote. J&J Smith Properties, LLC may begin using TAB but awaits approval from the State of North Dakota regarding the purchase and rehab of the Malloy Building. • Bank of North Dakota annex building will be the new home of Medcenter One’s walk-in clinic. The new location will be on 7th and Broadway. • Hedahls applied for a façade and signage grant, a CORE incentive program. Renaissance Zone authority and Bismarck City Commission approved Hedahls request. • Sara Keller has joined the Sales team of Cumulus Broadcasting. Sara is a native of Drake ND and a graduate of UND with a Bachelor of Public Administration focusing on Marketing...Sara comes to Cumulus Broadcasting having spent time in the insurance and medical fields. Sara will be a Sales Consultant for Cumulus Broadcasting's five radio stations. (Pictured right) Downtowners’ Association news Downtowners hire Assistant Director, new board attends vision planning for 2010-2011 • The Downtown Business Association welcomes a new Assistant Director Kate Herzog. She will assist in coordinating communication, marketing, and advertising for the Downtown Business Association. Herzog will be involved in implementing member programs, assist in coordinating downtown events including Ribfest and Street Fair, and help with overall association operations. Herzog has worked for the Grand Forks Herald and recently for the Bismarck Tribune as Niche Publications Coordinator. She has a B.A. in Communications from the University of North Dakota.
