2008 marks the very first Holiday Walk in Downtown Bismarck. The Holiday Walk will take place on Saturday, November 29th, 2008 from 1-5:00pm. During this time participating businesses have the opportunity to showcase their goods, services and specialties. The Downtowners will create a map detailing the name & location of each participating business. The overall idea of the Holiday Walk is to bring people downtown to shop and explore all there is to offer. It just happens that the perfect weekend to do so is the same weekend as the annual Lights on Broadway Parade, which is also Thanksgiving weekend. Each participating business is encouraged, but not required, to host a local artist or musical group to add yet another exciting facet to the Holiday Walk. The Downtowners Association’s main goal is to bring increased traffic into the city’s core area. Another event the Downtowners is working toward is a monthly art & wine walk during warmer months. The fee to businesses wishing to enter the Holiday Walk is $20. However, for businesses that are members of the Downtown Business Association, this fee is waived. All participating businesses are required to supply a door prize valued at $10 or more. The door prizes will be awarded to the visitors who have their maps stamped at each business. There are 25 spaces available on the map on a first come basis.
