The Christmas Store located in the Abused Adult Resouce Center's Seeds of Hope Thrift and Gift Store has set sales records for each of the past seven years! The eight annual version of the Christmas store will have its grand opeing from 5-8:00pm on Friday, October 24th, aimng to raise a record amount to help women and children victims of abuse. Prizes, refreshments and other treats will be available for shoppers, said Sarah Harper, store manager. "We want to make this a special weekend for those shopping early for Christmas," she said. The store is located in the lower level of Seeds of Hope at 520 E. Main. The store has thousands of gifts and decorations, including decorated artificial Christmas trees, Nativity scenes, dolls, wreaths, musical ornaments and other one-of-a-kind holiday items. The Christmas store is operated by volunteers, who along with a few store employees, have put in more than 8,700 hours throughout the year cleaning, sorting, pricing and displaying the donations from a big-hearted community. Their efforts resulted in a record sales total of more than $49,441 for the Christmas store. Sales proceeds are used by the Abused Adult Resource Center in it mission to serve victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children in a seven-county area in south-central North Dakota.
